Boeing ends the strike crisis historic agreement between the company and the striking workers

The American company Boeing (NYSE: BA) has reached a preliminary agreement with its striking workers at its defense facilities in St. Louis, following a dispute that lasted more than a month. The new agreement includes wage enhancements and a reinstatement of signing bonuses, as part of the company's efforts to end the strike and restore production rates.

Boeing confirmed that the contract proposal is for a five-year duration and includes an average wage increase of 45%, making it one of the strongest offers the company has made to the IAM's Local 837 union. Workers are set to vote on this agreement on Friday to make a final decision.

Dan Gillian, Vice President and General Manager of Boeing Air Dominance and Executive of the St. Louis site, stated that this offer is the best in the company's history for the union, urging workers to vote for approval in order to quickly return to developing advanced military products for the company’s clients.

The recent agreement surpasses the initial offer made by Boeing, as it extends the contract by one additional year and provides a guaranteed average wage increase of 24%, compared to 20% in the previous offer. It also includes a ratification bonus of $4,000 for each member. Company data indicates that the average wage will rise from $75,000 to $109,000 annually.

This agreement came after Boeing exerted pressure on the striking workers by threatening to hire replacement employees, especially since the manufacturing sites in Missouri and Illinois produce fighter jets like the F-15EX and F/A-18, in addition to strategic military munitions.

This development represents a crucial step for Boeing at a time when it is seeking to strengthen its position in the defense industry market, as the continuation of the strike poses a threat to its production commitments and contracts with the U.S. government and its international partners.
