Nissan Motor Co (TYO:7201) will scale back production of its top-selling Rogue SUV in Japan next week due to a shortage of chips from Dutch supplier Nexperia, Reuters reported on Wednesday, citing a person familiar with the matter.
The move marks the latest fallout from the diplomatic standoff surrounding the semiconductor maker, the report said.
Output at Nissan’s Kyushu plant will be reduced by about 900 vehicles in the week starting Nov. 10, and the automaker is reviewing plans for the following week as supply disruptions persist, according to the Reuters report.
The Rogue, known as the X-Trail in Japan and the UK, was Nissan’s best-selling model in the U.S. last year.
Nissan told Reuters it will make “small-scale production adjustments” at its Kyushu and Oppama plants while monitoring developments. The company plans to provide further updates at its second-quarter earnings on Thursday.
