The European Union's regulated cryptocurrency sector continues to expand, with the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) register reaching 375 unique crypto-asset service providers, reflecting growing participation in the bloc's licensing framework.
The latest update to the European Securities and Markets Authority's register, published on October 16, added nine firms, including entities associated with cryptocurrency platforms BingX and YouHodler, alongside businesses connected to traditional banking institutions.
The expansion highlights increasing adoption of MiCA regulations among cryptocurrency exchanges, fintech companies and financial institutions seeking to operate within a harmonised European regulatory environment.
BingX's European entity, MEGE zweite GmbH, received authorisation from Austria's financial regulator for specified digital asset services, while YouHodler's Italian entity also obtained approval for certain regulated cryptocurrency activities.
The MiCA framework is designed to establish consistent requirements for crypto-asset service providers across the European Union, covering areas such as governance, operational resilience, consumer protection and regulatory transparency.
The growing number of authorised providers suggests that more financial institutions are adapting their business models to operate under formal regulatory supervision, particularly as digital assets become increasingly integrated into mainstream financial services.
However, authorisation under MiCA does not automatically permit every cryptocurrency-related activity, as each provider must operate within the scope of its approved services.
The continued expansion of the register marks another step toward a more structured European digital asset market, with regulatory compliance becoming an increasingly important factor in competition and long-term industry development.
