Fireblocks Appoints Former SEC Commissioner Elad Roisman as Chief Regulatory and Policy Officer

Fireblocks has appointed Elad Roisman as Chief Regulatory and Policy Officer and General Counsel, Regulatory, strengthening its executive leadership as the digital asset infrastructure company expands its focus on regulation, policy, and institutional adoption of blockchain-based financial services.

The appointment, effective immediately, places Roisman in charge of Fireblocks’ global regulatory strategy, policy engagement, and legal work related to regulatory matters. He will also serve as the company’s principal liaison with regulators and standards-setting organizations across the United States, Europe, and other major markets.

He previously served as a Commissioner of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and also held the position of Acting Chairman. During his tenure at the regulator, he participated in more than 100 rulemakings and over 1,000 enforcement actions, while also representing the SEC before Congress and international organizations including the International Organization of Securities Commissions and the Financial Stability Board.

Before his time at the SEC, Roisman served as Chief Counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs. Earlier in his career, he also worked as Chief Counsel at NYSE Euronext, giving him experience across government policy, securities regulation, exchanges, and private-sector financial markets.

Most recently, Roisman was a Partner at Cravath, Swaine & Moore, where he co-led the firm’s Digital Assets Practice. In that position, he advised financial institutions and fintech companies on digital asset regulation and market structure and also testified before Congress on legislation affecting digital asset markets.

Roisman joins Fireblocks at a time when regulation is becoming increasingly important to the development of digital assets, stablecoins, tokenization, and blockchain-based financial services.

His new role will involve working with policymakers, regulators, standards bodies, and financial institutions as regulatory frameworks continue to develop around digital assets.

Fireblocks Co-Founder and CEO Michael Shaulov highlighted Roisman’s combination of regulatory and legal experience, noting that his understanding of both regulators and major financial institutions will help Fireblocks support customers as they move further into regulated digital finance.

Roisman’s appointment also comes as institutional interest in stablecoins and tokenized real-world assets continues to grow, increasing the importance of regulatory expertise for companies providing infrastructure to banks, payment businesses, asset managers, and other financial institutions.

Fireblocks provides digital asset and stablecoin infrastructure for organizations seeking to build, manage, and expand blockchain-based financial products and services. Its platform supports areas including custody, payments, settlement, tokenization, and digital asset operations.

According to the company, its infrastructure has secured more than $14 trillion in digital asset transactions, highlighting the scale of its activities within the institutional digital asset market.

The addition of Roisman to the executive leadership team brings extensive regulatory expertise at a time when digital asset companies are increasingly focused on navigating new legal frameworks while supporting greater participation from traditional financial institutions.

As Chief Regulatory and Policy Officer and General Counsel, Regulatory, Roisman will now play a central role in shaping Fireblocks’ approach to regulation and policy while helping the company and its institutional clients navigate the next stage of development across global digital asset markets.
