FP Markets has appointed Nikolay Nikolaev as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO), strengthening the broker’s senior technology leadership as it continues to invest in trading infrastructure, operational resilience, and global expansion.
Nikolaev brings more than 25 years of experience in fintech and capital markets technology, with a career spanning trading platforms, engineering leadership, infrastructure, risk management, and technology transformation. He joined FP Markets full-time in June 2026 and is based at the company’s Limassol office in Cyprus.
The appointment sees Nikolaev take responsibility for FP Markets’ technology strategy at a time when the broker continues to develop its global operations and strengthen the technology supporting its trading services.
Before joining FP Markets, Nikolaev served as Chief Technology Officer at Skilling from August 2023 until November 2025.
During his tenure, he led the restructuring of the company’s technology organization, worked on improving delivery cycles, and helped maintain platform uptime at approximately 98%, according to his professional profile.
Prior to Skilling, Nikolaev was CTO at Zenfinex, now operating under the Taurex brand. He joined Zenfinex in 2021 as its first technology hire and played a role in building the broker’s technology, product, and operational infrastructure.
His earlier career also includes nearly five years as CTO at Global Kapital Group, where he expanded the technology organization across multiple countries, as well as more than four years leading technology at ActivTrades.
Nikolaev also co-founded QUADRELION, a business focused on engineering and algorithmic trading solutions, before later returning to executive technology roles within the brokerage sector.
Nikolaev succeeds Alexander Strelnikov, who stepped down as FP Markets’ Chief Technology Officer earlier in 2026.
His appointment comes during a wider period of management development at FP Markets. The broker has also recently expanded its Cyprus-based team with senior commercial appointments, including Haris Sergiou as Global Head of Business Development.
Founded in 2005, FP Markets provides access to more than 10,000 CFD instruments across seven asset classes, including forex, indices, commodities, stocks, bonds, ETFs, and digital currencies. The company operates as a multi-regulated global broker with its headquarters in Limassol, Cyprus.
With Nikolaev taking over as Chief Technology Officer, FP Markets adds an executive with extensive experience in building and transforming technology operations within regulated brokerage businesses.
His appointment is expected to support the broker’s continued focus on trading technology, platform reliability, operational efficiency, and technology-led growth as FP Markets develops its international business.
