Bruce Markets has announced plans to extend U.S. equity trading through the weekend, moving toward continuous 24/7 market access for investors and participating brokerage firms.
The expansion is being supported by new strategic investments from PEAK6 Investments and Robinhood Markets, while Bruce Markets will continue using Nasdaq’s trading technology. Apex Clearing Corporation, a subsidiary of Apex Fintech Solutions, is expected to provide clearing, carrying and custody services for the planned weekend sessions.
Bruce Markets operates Bruce ATS, an alternative trading system that currently supports overnight trading in U.S. equities. The proposed weekend expansion would extend that model further, allowing participating brokers to offer access to selected U.S. stocks and ETFs beyond the traditional Monday-to-Friday market structure.
The company said the initiative is aimed at meeting growing demand from investors who want greater flexibility to respond to global developments and market-moving events outside standard U.S. trading hours.
Robinhood also plans to make weekend equity trading available to eligible customers through Bruce ATS once the service receives the necessary regulatory clearance.
The broader move reflects a growing industry push toward more continuous market access, particularly as retail and international investors increasingly expect trading availability outside conventional exchange hours.
Bruce Markets said the weekend session is expected to launch in the coming months. However, the rollout remains subject to regulatory review and is not yet live.
