APG Asset Management has promoted Christos Saltapidas to the position of quantitative fixed income trader following approximately six years with the organisation.
In his new Amsterdam-based role, he will focus on government bond trading and interest-rate derivatives, bringing his quantitative and systematic investment experience into the fixed income team.
Saltapidas joined the firm in 2020 as a junior asset management professional and completed rotations across quantitative, research and portfolio management departments.
He later moved into systematic commodities, spending around four years as a portfolio manager and quantitative researcher. During that period, he was responsible for managing internal systematic strategy portfolios.
His previous experience also includes a role at NN Investment Partners before joining APG.
The internal promotion reflects the value of quantitative expertise within large institutional investment organisations, particularly across asset classes where data analysis, derivatives and systematic strategies play an increasingly important role.
The appointment gives Saltapidas responsibility for a new area of the investment process while building on his previous experience in quantitative research and portfolio management.
