Standard Chartered Appoints Doris Wong as Head of Coverage for Greater China and North Asia

Standard Chartered has appointed Doris Wong as Head of Coverage for Greater China and North Asia (GCNA), effective June 1, reinforcing its regional leadership in corporate and investment banking.

Based in Hong Kong, Wong will oversee client coverage strategy across one of the bank’s most strategically important regions. Her mandate includes deepening client relationships, enhancing cross-border opportunities, and supporting business growth across corporate and institutional segments.

Wong joins Standard Chartered from HSBC, where she spent nearly two decades in senior leadership roles spanning corporate coverage and global banking. Throughout her career, she has built a reputation for cultivating strong client relationships and delivering tailored financial solutions across capital markets, structured finance, and lending.

Her extensive regional experience and client-centric approach are expected to play a pivotal role in advancing Standard Chartered’s growth ambitions in Greater China and North Asia. In particular, Wong will focus on strengthening engagement with key clients, identifying new opportunities across industries, and driving collaboration across the bank’s global network.

The appointment underscores Standard Chartered’s continued investment in its coverage model, aiming to provide more integrated and customized solutions to clients operating in increasingly complex and fast-evolving markets. The GCNA region remains a core growth engine for the bank, supported by strong economic fundamentals, cross-border trade flows, and ongoing financial market development.

By bringing in a seasoned executive with deep market knowledge and proven leadership, Standard Chartered is positioning itself to further enhance its competitive edge in the region. Wong’s leadership is expected to contribute significantly to the bank’s ability to deliver strategic insights and innovative financial solutions to its diverse client base.

Her appointment comes at a time when global banks are intensifying their focus on Asia, particularly in areas such as trade finance, capital markets, and wealth management. With Wong at the helm of coverage in GCNA, Standard Chartered is well-placed to capture emerging opportunities and strengthen its presence in one of the world’s most dynamic financial hubs.
