New Relic, a leading provider of intelligent observability solutions, has appointed Steve Lucas as Chairman of its Board of Directors, strengthening its leadership as the company seeks to accelerate growth and expand its position in the rapidly evolving artificial intelligence and enterprise software markets.
The appointment, announced on October 29, 2026, brings an experienced technology executive to New Relic at a time when organizations are increasingly investing in AI-powered systems, cloud infrastructure, and automated IT operations.
Lucas currently serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Boomi, where he oversees the company's global strategy, operational performance, and business expansion. With nearly three decades of experience in enterprise software, he has built a career leading technology companies through periods of transformation, international growth, and strategic development.
Before joining Boomi, Lucas served as Chief Executive Officer of iCIMS and Marketo, while also holding senior executive positions at major technology companies, including SAP, Salesforce, Adobe, and Business Objects.
During his tenure at Marketo, he led a significant business transformation that culminated in the company's $4.75 billion acquisition by Adobe. At iCIMS, he expanded the company's enterprise software portfolio and strengthened its presence among major corporate customers, with its solutions reaching 40% of Fortune 100 companies.
His board experience also includes involvement with technology organizations such as Drift, Couchbase, SendGrid, Certinia, and TiVo/Rovi, providing extensive expertise in corporate governance, enterprise technology, and long-term business strategy.
New Relic CEO Nandini Ramani welcomed the appointment, highlighting Lucas's experience in developing and scaling enterprise platforms and his ability to support the company's ambitions in an increasingly AI-driven business environment.
New Relic has been expanding its Intelligent Observability Platform, which helps businesses monitor complex digital systems, connect operational data with business outcomes, and use AI-driven automation to improve system performance and operational efficiency.
As enterprises integrate artificial intelligence into their applications and infrastructure, observability technology is becoming increasingly important for maintaining reliability, controlling technology spending, and identifying potential operational risks.
Lucas's appointment is expected to strengthen the company's strategic oversight and support its efforts to develop advanced observability capabilities that address the changing requirements of global enterprises.
The leadership move reflects New Relic's broader ambition to position intelligent observability as an essential component of enterprise AI transformation while pursuing further opportunities for innovation, market expansion, and sustainable growth.
